| The Palm Bay Bassmasters - August 2008 Lake Cypress The Palm Bay Bassmasters head to Lake Cypress on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes for the August tournament. We had hot weather and Tropical Storm Fay threatening the Fl. Keys. The rain held off until after weigh-in. We had a great turn out with twenty-four anglers competing. First place angler Mark Eden of Palm Bay was throwing a watermelon toad in hydrilla on North Steer Beach in West Lake Toho to pull in a limit of five bass. It was worth the long run for Mark because he also takes Big Bass Honors with a 7.32 pound fatty. He caught the big fish flipping a blue and brown ugly otter in hydrilla near Lanier point. His total weight was 14.21 pounds. Second place angler Bob Theilacker of Rockledge hauls in a nice limit of five bass. He caught his big boy at the Cypress mouth of the canal to Hatchineha using a deep diving Norman Spring Craw crank bait that weighed in at 6.04 pounds. Bob landed 2 additional keepers in the same area using a Carolina Rigged Zoom Magnum chartreuse pumpkin lizard. The others were caught on a Yum Houdini watermelon red fishing the north grass line of Cypress. His total weight was 11.60 pounds. Third place goes to non-boater Mike Mulligan of Melbourne. Here is a direct quote from Mike. "I'm sorry, I don't know what part of the lake I was in. Never been on that lake before, but I caught my bass on a watermelon hot foot frog, blue senko, a red and yellow spinnerbait, and a four inch blue and silver flappinshad. You'll have to ask B.J. Biles what part of the lake we was on, as fast as his boat was it took my thoughts 45 seconds to catch up to us after we stopped." Mike had a limit of five that weighed-in at 7.23 pounds. You have to love Mike! His second outing with us and again he places and earns a check! Look out Mr. Asplund. Team Place First - Mark Eden and Mike Guerrero - 15.60 pounds Second - B.J. Biles and Mike Mulligan - 13.23 pounds Third - (fishing solo) Bob Theilacker - 11.60 pounds The Craver Builders small creel award goes to Donnie Gibbs of Palm Bay. He caught his bucket mouth on a senko. It weighed-in at 0.80 pounds Thanks to all anglers for a safe tournament, Tour.D/Donnie G. |
