West Lake Toho Tournament Results

Palm Bay Bassmasters 9/12/2009
West Lake Toho

The Palm Bay Bassmasters held the September tournament on West Lake Tohopekalgia. We had twenty-one anglers competing for the top spot. The anglers struggled to put a bag limit of five bass in the live-well for weigh-in but four members and our guest fisherman, Bob Kull bagged a limit.
With our season coming to an end the battle for angler of the year is getting hot between points leader Dean Harcourt and second place, It will be an awesome showdown for the last tour of the season next month at Miami Garcia.

First place angler is Jana Asplund of Palm Bay. Jana turns up the heat by bringing in a limit of bass that he landed in Goblet's Cove. He was throwing a junebug colored senko and then went for the more aggressive bite by throwing a chartreuse/white chatter-bait. That strategy paid of for Jana because he is awarded Big Bass Honors with a 7.20 pound hawg that inhaled the chatter-bait. His total weight of five bass was 12.83 pounds. Come and get some  Asplund!!!

Second place angler is Bob Theilacker of Rockledge. Bob needs to be drawn out solo more often. This is his second time this season fishing solo and he has produced another impressive bag. Mr. T made the run to Lake Cypress and started throwing a watermelon seed Yum Dinger to the left of the canal and hauled in a nice limit of five with a total weight of 10.18 pounds. His best bass was a 3.66 pound bucket mouth.

Third place angler is Dean Harcourt of Palm Bay. Dean made the run to Cypress and starts tossing a black toad and lands a couple of bass. He switches up and starts throwing a black/blue speed craw and lands another nice keeper. He lets everyone know he "only" has three keepers, but when he pulls the bass out of his live-well and bags them for weigh-in a silence falls across the crowd of on-lookers. Dean has a nice bag totaling 6.30 pounds earning him his third place finish and pretty much clinching angler of the year honors. BUT he must show up for the next tour! Can you say SABOTAGE ?

The Craver Builders Small creel award goes to Doug Conklin of Harmony. Doug fought the beast all on his own and without a net-man landed a nice .85 pound monster !

Thank you Guest anglers Bob Kull and Jim Horvath !

I want to thank all anglers for another safe and successful tournament.
            Tight lines, TourD/Donnie G.
