Palm Bay Bassmasters 2/27/2010
East Lake Toho
It was a cold and rainy day for the Palm Bay Bassmasters on East Lake Toho. The coldest day since January 10th! It didn't stop raining on us until weigh-in time. Lots of electronics didn't make it with all the rain drenching the switches, and the wind put a strain on our batteries. Most of the reports I had after the tournament were of still being cold and sleeping a lot. One club member even said he slept for fourteen hours on Sunday. The cold and rain took the life out of us and yet we continue to fish. We love our sport!
We had Twenty-three anglers competing and three of those anglers were guests. Thirty-eight bass were weighed-in and three anglers had a limit of five.
First place angler, persevering through the cold and rain is our defending classic champion John Kinchen of Palm Bay. John had a limit of bass weighing a total of 9.34 pounds. He ran through the white caps to the West Lake Toho canal and started throwing his go to bait, a Banger Lure and bagged a nice 3.45 pound fatty, his best fish of the day. John also threw a watermelon red fluke and a baby brush hawg to complete his limit. Nice job Mr. Kinchen !
Second place angler is Jana Asplund of Palm Bay. Mr. Go Fast ran head on into the rough seas to the West end of East Lake Toho. He threw a junebug Skinny Dipper to load his live-well with a nice limit of five bass. Jana's total weight was 8.49 pounds, his best bass was a 4.28 pound basszilla! Shake and Bake !
Third place angler is Rob Walker of Deland. Rob also braved the high seas and made the run to the West Lake Toho canal. He threw a junebug Skinny Dipper in the canal all day in the cold and rain and hooked up with one bass and one bass only. His monster 5.73 pound hawg earns him Big Bass Honors, Third place individual, and First place boat fishing with his guest Justin Ford. Great hook up Rob !
I'd like to thank our three guests for fishing with us on such a gorgeous day, Justin Ford, Johnny Holmes, and Chris Finch, I hope you guys enjoyed your time with us, thanks!
The Craver Builders small creel award goes to Terry "El Terro" Walker of West Melbourne. Terry searched long and hard for his one monster bucket mouth pushing the scale to 0.86 pounds! You got one El Terro !
Thanks to all the anglers for another safe and successful tournament, Tour D./Donnie G.
